Design Business Strategy
& Management

A transport planner by training, Nupur went on to build and run a design studio for over two decades, specialising in branding and communication design.

Largely self-taught in a pre-digital era, her learning curve was steep—and deeply formative. Over the years, she has worked across projects of all scales and kinds, collaborating with clients such as WHO, Nagpur Metro, Aga Khan Foundation, UPES, Penguin Random House, among others.

She values clarity, empathy, and mutual trust in her working relationships, thoroughly enjoys interacting with young designers, enjoys a mean cup of tea, and still believes in design for print.

SERVICES

The Brand Coach

Nupur helps existing brands and businesses unclog their visual blockages by running a series of checks on clarity and continuity of optics and communication across different channels. She then advises and guides on how to best establish visual consistency and standards best suited to your needs as a business.

Branding Audit

Nupur has been a visiting faculty, taught courses, served on the jury, and given talks at India’s leading design education spaces like IIAD, NIFT, Avantika University, OP Jindal, SPA, and more.

Teaching & Speaking

Nupur helps small and young design businesses thrive by offering her expertise so they can navigate better within the industry. How to tailor a proposal, how to charge for a specific service, how to ask for what you want — Nupur helps find their way through the soft gaps that conventional education doesn’t cover.

THOUGHTS

Many years, many thoughts —
5 subconscious mistakes brands make that hamper growth

A business needs to engage with its customers to remain successful.

Often businesses fail to connect with their customers owing to small but significant factors. Misguided brand communication is mostly unintended but often ends up causing long-term damage. Here are some of the factors that limit the growth and engagement of a business:

1. Not using the right language — what you're saying might make sense to you as the expert, but can your audience understand it?

2. Not using the right platform to communicate. If you target is grannies in the village, who are you speaking to on Instagram?

3. Overloading with too much information. We want to be transparent and offer all our information, but can your audience digest it in 5 seconds?

4. Having poorly researched / inaccurate content. It might get you quick visibility, but as quickly does it take away your credibility

5. Visual language not aligning on different channels. How will your customer know to recognise, and hence trust you?

Good communication is a sum of many parts. They all need to come together seamlessly to make it work.
